GOOSH is located in the back of the grounds of Greenwich Primary School infant site, at 72A Greenwich Road. We offer childcare 5 days a week from 7:00am to 9:00am in the morning and 3:00pm to 6:00pm in the afternoon.

Mornings at GOOSH

During morning sessions GOOSH offers breakfast from 7:00-8:00am. When the children have finished their breakfast they are able to go outside and play on the equipment, participate in an organised sporting activity or they can enjoy art, craft or free play activities inside. The primary children leave with GOOSH educators at 8:30am to catch the bus to the Kingslangley campus. The other GOOSH educators stay with the infants at the service and can play until school starts at 9:00am

Afternoons at GOOSH

In the afternoon GOOSH educators go to the Kingslangley campus to collect the primary children attending GOOSH. The GOOSH educators mark the roll inside the school grounds under the COLA and at the bus stop outside the school gates to ensure all children on the roll are on the 702 bus (years 4-6) or the private GOOSH bus (years 1-3) to return to GOOSH.  At the infant site Kindergarten children are escorted over to GOOSH by teaching staff and they are collected by GOOSH educators where the afternoon roll call will be taken to ensure all children are in attendance.  Once children have arrived, they will then wash their hands for afternoon tea. For afternoon tea we serve a range of foods such as teriyaki chicken and pasta in winter and sausage sandwiches and rainbow cous cous salad in summer, it is also served with a fruit and veggie tray. We run a differentiated program of activities for both inside and outside to cater for the varying age groups. The children will be informed of the activities running at each station for the afternoon. At 5:00pm we have a final head count, stars and ticks – which are our behaviour incentives. After this, we have a light, late afternoon snack consisting of crackers, dip and/or fruit and vegetables. In summer, the children have the choice go back outside to play until 5:45 and in winter we will run an inside activity. During the last hour of the day, after we finish our final checks and announcements we will also have rest and relaxation time. Some days, we will include TV in our screen and relaxation time although this will be limited to the last half an hour of the day.

Physical Activity

At GOOSH we understand that it is imperative children have high quality physical activity to maintain a healthy and balanced lifestyle.  Therefore, we program structured sport and outside activities to get the blood pumping! Our program is being continually updated and evaluated to ensure the children receive a variety of fun and multicultural activities.

Committees

We believe that to run a successful centre which is enjoyed by all children the input of children is crucial.  We therefore run a childrens committee represented by all age groups who make decisions about activites, prizes and the systems used at GOOSH.

Goosh is a not for profit organization and is run by a parent committee. This helps the parents decide on what they would like to happen with the day to day running of the centre and decisions needing to be made. Because we are a not for profit organization it enables us to put the money back into the centre to provide a fun and safe environment. Anyone is welcome onto the committee and it is a great way to meet other parents and to have a say on how Goosh is run.

Vacation Care

The centre also offers vacation care in the school holidays and runs from 7:00am to 6:00pm 5 days a week. Vacation care programs are available a month in advance at the centre and we program a huge range of activities including incursions and excursions. The new kindergarten children are welcome to come to our January vacation care before they start school. I encourage you to book your child in for vacation care before starting school as it is a great way to meet new children starting at the same time.
